33 Matches Down: Langsning Lead as the Race Tightens
Shillong 26 Sep 2026-
With 33 of the 45 matches played, the season is beginning to reach its decisive stage, with the race at the top taking shape while the relegation battle grows increasingly tense.
At the summit, Langsning have set the early pace with 16 points from seven matches, recording five wins, one draw and one defeat. Their attacking numbers have been particularly impressive, with 16 goals scored — the highest tally in the competition so far. Half of those goals have come late in matches, with eight scored from the 76th minute onwards, highlighting Langsning's ability to keep pushing until the closing stages.
Shillong Lajong remain within touching distance in second with 14 points from seven games. However, their campaign has been complicated by a costly administrative error. Lajong won a match on the pitch but were subsequently handed a defeat after fielding an ineligible player. With the points potentially proving crucial in the final standings, the management blunder could have a major impact on their season.
Mawlai occupy third with 12 points from just six matches and are still unbeaten. Three wins and three draws have kept them firmly in contention, while their defensive record has been exceptional. They have conceded just one goal all season, the best defensive record in the competition. Their attacking output, however, has been modest, with eight goals scored — the lowest tally among the current top five.
While the leading sides continue to battle for position, the situation at the bottom is becoming increasingly significant.
Mylliem SC, with just one point from seven matches, have already been mathematically relegated, despite having two games remaining.
The fight to avoid joining them is still very much alive. Laitkor FC currently sit second from bottom with six points from seven matches, with two games left to play. Just above them are Rangdajied FC, who have seven points from seven matches but hold the advantage of a better goal difference and, crucially, have three games remaining.
That leaves very little separating the sides at the bottom, with Laitkor and Rangdajied still having a chance to change their position before the final whistle of the season. With 12 matches remaining overall, both ends of the table now have plenty at stake — Langsning are looking to maintain their lead, the chasing pack are trying to close the gap, and the relegation battle is heading towards a tense finish.
