Mawlai Hold Defending Champions Langsning to Goalless Draw
Shillong, Sep 16: Mawlai and defending champions Langsning played out a 0-0 draw in an intense Shillong Premier League 2026 encounter at the SSA Stadium here this evening.
The point takes Mawlai back to the top of the standings with 11 points from five games. They are level on points with Shillong Lajong but have a superior goal difference of +7 to +1. Langsning remain third with 10 points.
The first half was played at a high pace, with both teams showing plenty of intensity. Langsning came closest to breaking the deadlock in the opening five minutes.
A corner from Allen Lyngdoh Nongbri found Syed Ahmed, whose header took a deflection off a Mawlai player before crashing against the woodwork. Ahmed got another opportunity from the same sequence, but a Mawlai defender managed to hook the ball away.
Langsning continued to search for openings, but several offside calls against their attacking players halted promising moves and denied them further goal-scoring opportunities.
Mawlai remained organised and held their ground as the defending champions continued to look for a breakthrough. Neither side, however, was able to turn their attacking moments into a goal.
The closest Langsning came to snatching all three points arrived late in the second half. Samuel Phawa unleashed a long-range effort that struck the crossbar and bounced back into play.
Wadajied Kynsai Ryngkhlem was perfectly placed for the rebound and rose to meet the ball, but his header went over the bar.
Mawlai survived the late scare to claim a valuable point and extend their unbeaten start to the competition.
